Ohio State Tops the Field
Ohio State sits at No. 1 in the preseason power poll, the roster-adjusted favorite over a stacked chase pack that includes Texas, Notre Dame, Oregon and Georgia, none more than a couple spots removed from each other. Indiana at No. 6 is the name that jumps off the page, a program with no business posting a 16-0 mark by reputation alone now graded ahead of Miami and Alabama. LSU rounding out the top 10 despite a 7-6 finish is the other eyebrow-raiser, a sign our model likes the roster far more than last year's record suggests. The gap between No. 1 Ohio State and the rest of this top tier is thin enough that any of the next several teams could plausibly finish the year as the best team in the country.
