Pac-12 2026 Season Preview

Boise State's Race to Lose

Boise State sits atop the league at No. 50 nationally, the clear favorite over a conference where nobody else cracks the top 50. San Diego State (No. 59) is the closest thing to a real threat, projected to meet Boise State again in the title game, while Fresno State (No. 77) and Washington State (No. 83) round out a second tier capable of stealing a game but not the crown. This shapes up as a two-team race at the top with a wide gap to everyone else, and unless San Diego State closes that distance, Boise State should roll through to the title game as the projected champion.

Beavers Lead the Pack

Oregon State tops the board with four selections, anchored by quarterback Braden Atkinson, receiver Xayvion Noland and tight end Eric Olsen on offense, plus linebacker Aiden Sullivan holding down the defense. Texas State backs that up with a pair of receivers in Beau Sparks and Chris Dawn Jr. alongside defensive lineman DonTerry Russell, while Utah State stacks three defenders in Tyree Morris, Bronson Olevao Jr. and Brevin Hamblin. Boise State rounds out the marquee names with running back Dylan Riley, linebacker Jayden Virgin-Morgan and cornerback JeRico Washington Jr. No single program dominates beyond Oregon State's four picks, and with Fresno State, Colorado State, Washington State and San Diego State all landing at least one honoree, the ballot reads as a league without a clear top-heavy power.

Position Room Power Map

No program dominates this list, and that spread is the point for a rebuilt Pac-12. Oregon State is the closest thing to a hub, holding the top returning-production room at two different spots with quarterback Braden Atkinson and tight end Eric Olsen both back. Boise State splits the rest of the backfield and second level, fielding the conference's top running back room behind Dylan Riley and its top linebacker corps behind Jayden Virgin-Morgan. The remaining top spots scatter to Texas State receiver Beau Sparks, Fresno State defensive lineman Jahzon Jacks and Utah State defensive back Brevin Hamblin, leaving no single roster positioned as the league's clear top-to-bottom returning group.
