Terms of Use

Highlights is a sports email and website product. You follow teams and leagues, and we send you email about them: pregame previews and postgame recaps for football, basketball, baseball, soccer and hockey, a single roll-up when several of your teams play on the same day, a league roll-up if you follow a whole league, box scores set like a newspaper page, breaking news on the teams you follow, and a welcome note when you join. Members also get Stat Savant and Best Bets. The site carries game pages, league pages, standings, box scores, editorial issues, game threads and league rooms, and a free picks game called Quick Picks.

We add, change and retire features and emails as the product develops. Some things described on the site are labelled as coming soon or as placeholders, and those are not promises. We are not obliged to keep any particular email or page running.

You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service. When you sign up, we create a passwordless account tied to your email address. You are responsible for the activity on your account and for keeping access to your email secure. One-time login codes are personal to you; never share them.

You can set a display name and pick an avatar. Those are visible to other readers alongside anything you post, so do not put anything in them you would not want seen.

Which emails you get follows from which teams and leagues you follow and which newsletters you have switched on in your account. Every email carries a one-click unsubscribe and a link to a preference page where you can turn individual newsletters off or stop everything at once. Unsubscribing from marketing email does not close your account; we may still send you service messages such as login codes and billing notices.

There is a free tier and a paid membership called Major League. The free tier caps how many teams you can follow and does not include the members-only newsletters or the premium issues. Major League costs $3.99 a month or $39.99 a year. A single premium issue can also be bought on its own for $4.50.

Payments are taken by Stripe. We do not see or store your full card details. A membership renews automatically at the price above until you cancel, and you can cancel or change your payment method at any time from your account, which opens Stripe’s customer portal. Cancelling stops the next renewal; it does not shorten the period you have already paid for.

Buying a premium issue also starts a free 30-day run of Major League on the same card. If you do nothing, it converts to a paid membership at $3.99 a month when those 30 days are up. Cancel before then from your account and you keep the issue and pay nothing further.

We advertise a 30-day money-back guarantee on Major League and on premium issues. If you ask us within 30 days of the charge, we will refund it. Taxes, currency conversion and anything your bank charges are outside our control. If we change the price, the new price applies from your next renewal and we will tell you before it takes effect.

You can invite friends by email from your account. Invite them yourself, and only people you actually know; sending our invites to addresses that did not ask for them is a breach of these Terms.

When a friend you invited joins using the address you invited and follows at least one team, they count toward a free run of Major League: one friend earns one month, three friends earn three months in total, and six friends earn six months in total. Signups that arrive through a shared link rather than an emailed invite do not count. Each mailbox counts once, whatever variations of the address are used, and inviting yourself never counts. The free months are a comp period, not a refund or a cash value, and they sit underneath any paid membership rather than replacing it. We can withhold rewards we believe were obtained by gaming this, and we can change or end the reward at any time for invites not yet sent.

Quick Picks and the other picks games on the Service are free to play. There is no entry fee, no stake, and no cash prize, and a pick is not a wager. Where a game is ever run with a prize, its own rules will say so on the page and those rules will govern it. We settle picks from the sports data described below, and we can correct or void a result when that data turns out to be wrong.

Game threads and league rooms let you post. You are responsible for what you post, you keep whatever rights you have in it, and you give us permission to show it on the Service. Do not post anything unlawful, abusive, hateful, deceptive or infringing. We can remove a post or a reader without notice.

You agree not to:

• use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of these Terms;
• copy, scrape, resell, or redistribute our emails or content except as allowed by law;
• attempt to disrupt, reverse-engineer, or gain unauthorized access to the Service;
• share, resell or publish a members-only issue or newsletter outside the sharing features we provide; or
• sign up other people without their permission.

Scores, schedules, rosters and statistics come from public sports data feeds and are for information only. They can be delayed, incomplete or wrong. Odds, projections and win probabilities are for entertainment only and are not betting advice. Team names and marks belong to their owners and identify the clubs we cover. Highlights is an independent product and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any league, team, or athlete.

Some of the writing on the Service is drafted with the help of large language models and checked against the same data feeds. It can still be wrong. Tell us when it is.

Best Bets and the odds shown on game pages report prices that sportsbooks are publishing and the arithmetic behind them. They are not recommendations, not financial advice, and not an offer to take a bet. We do not accept wagers and we do not handle betting money. Sports betting is legal only in some places and is 21+ in most US states, and it is your responsibility to know the rules where you are. Bet responsibly and only what you can afford to lose. The Service, including its design, text, and original editorial content, is owned by MainMarket and protected by intellectual-property laws. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the Service for your own personal, non-commercial use.

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by law, MainMarket is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service, and our total liability will not exceed one hundred U.S. dollars ($100).

You can stop using the Service at any time and unsubscribe from any email in one click. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms or to protect the Service.

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we’ll update the date above and, where appropriate, notify you by email. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
