How we get our numbers

Where the scores, odds and projections on Highlights come from, and what our win chances mean.

Where the scores, odds and projections on Highlights come from, and what our win chances mean.

Every number comes from a source we can name.

Scores, schedules and box scores come from the leagues' public data feeds. Odds come from the sportsbooks we read. A win chance comes either from the betting line or from our own model, and the page says which one you are looking at.

Questions

Is any of this betting advice?

No. Odds, projections and win chances are information, not advice. 21+, where legal.

Who writes the previews and recaps?

Software writes them from each game's stored data, and automated checks compare the words with those numbers before they publish.

What is the difference between the line's win chance and Our number?

The line's win chance is what the sportsbooks' prices imply, with their cut taken out. Our number comes from our own model's projected score. When the two differ, the market and our model disagree.
