Big Sky Owns the Top

Montana State sits at No. 1 off a 14-2 season, but Montana pushed it the whole way at 13-2 and this rivalry will decide who actually holds the belt in 2026. The rest of the top 10 is a patchwork of leagues rather than a single dominant conference, with Tarleton State (12-2) and Stephen F. Austin (11-3) from outside the Big Sky/MVFC world crashing the party. The real outlier is North Dakota at No. 3 despite an 8-6 record, a sign our roster-adjusted rating sees more talent there than the win column shows. Southern Illinois rounding out the group at No. 7 with a 7-5 mark is the clearest case of a roster expected to outplay last year's modest finish.
