Records Lying Both Ways
Murray State went 1-11 last year but grades out at No. 87 nationally, the widest gap on the board, and Northern Iowa's 3-9 finish looks like a mirage next to its No. 43 rating. Idaho and Cal Poly join them as Big Sky teams the model says were miscast as also-rans, suggesting the buy board skews toward the FCS ranks rather than any power-conference darlings. On the sell side, Presbyterian's 10-2 season comes with a No. 52 grade that says the record outran the roster, and Grambling's 7-5 mark drops to No. 99. Those sells cluster in the Pioneer and SWAC, a Group of 5-and-below flavor that points to hot streaks unlikely to repeat in 2026.
