Max Johnson named starting QB at Georgia Southern

Georgia Southern Eagles

Georgia Southern has named Max Johnson as the starting quarterback for the Eagles, according to sources. Johnson, 25, will be starting for his fourth program in his seventh season of college football.

Johnson has previously served as the starting quarterback at LSU, Texas A&M, and North Carolina. He has thrown for 6,355 yards and 49 touchdowns since joining LSU in 2020.

Johnson returned to play after suffering a broken femur in 2024 while at North Carolina, which required five surgeries. Georgia Southern will begin their season at home against Charleston Southern on Sept. 5, followed by a game at Clemson on Sept. 12.
