Diaz delivers in 10th as Hot Rods outlast Drive
The Hot Rods broke through in the bottom of the 10th to edge the Drive 3-2 in a tightly pitched affair that stayed locked at 2-2 until late. Jhon Diaz's sharp single to center field scored Nicandro Aybar with the go-ahead run, sending the Hot Rods home with the win. The Drive visit the Hot Rods again on Saturday.
Ryan Cermak paced the Hot Rods attack, finishing 1-for-5 with a solo home run and two RBIs. Shea Sprague kept the Drive in it, allowing no earned runs over five innings with seven strikeouts, but the offense couldn't find enough traction when it mattered most.
