Wagner's line drive lifts Drillers past Wind Surge

Joe Vetrano went deep twice and drove in four runs, but it was Logan Wagner's sharp single to right in the sixth that brought home the go-ahead run as the Drillers topped the Wind Surge 7-4. Wagner's line drive scored Taylor Young with Elijah Hainline moving to third, breaking open what had been a tight contest. The Drillers outhit their visitors 9-6 to improve to 82-48, while the Wind Surge fell to 51-77.

Vetrano went 3-for-4 with his two home runs accounting for four of the Drillers' seven runs, setting the table for Wagner's clutch moment in the sixth.

The go-ahead single came when the game was still within reach, turning Wagner's at-bat into the inning's pivot point and handing the Drillers momentum they would not relinquish.

Despite holding their own for much of the evening, the Wind Surge could not recover from Young's sixth-inning score, leaving themselves chasing a lead they never recaptured.

The Drillers are winners of 4 straight, 7-3 over their last 10. The Wind Surge are losers of 9 straight, 1-9 over their last 10.
