Sprinkle Singles Home Burke, Barons Edge Shuckers

The Barons scraped past the Shuckers 2-1 behind a seventh-inning go-ahead single by Jordan Sprinkle that plated Jacob Burke. Caleb Bonemer provided the offensive backbone with a home run and an RBI. The Barons hold the edge in long balls and improve to 57-73, while the Shuckers fall to 61-65. The teams meet again Saturday.

Sprinkle's fly ball single to right field in the top of the 7th broke a tight contest, with Burke scoring to give the Barons their winning margin. Colby Shelton advanced to third on the play and Grant Magill to second.

Bonemer went 1-for-3 with his solo homer, the only long ball hit in the game. The Shuckers managed just one run despite J.D. Thompson's strong six innings on the mound, where he allowed one earned run and struck out six.

The Barons are coming off a loss, 4-6 over their last 10. The Shuckers are coming off a win, 6-4 over their last 10.
