The first projection comes with the first NET of the season.

The NCAA publishes its first NET rankings in early December. This page projects the 68-team field from them the day they appear and updates every few hours through Selection Sunday. Projected from the NCAA's NET alone: each conference's best NET team takes the automatic bid until its tournament crowns a champion, the next 37 teams by NET take the at-large spots, and the 68 are seeded down the S-curve in NET order. The First Four are the last four at-large teams and the four lowest automatic bids. The committee weighs more than the NET, so treat this as the NET's answer, not the committee's.
