Texans wide receiver Nico Collins suffered a hamstring injury during Wednesday's practice and is uncertain to play in Week 2 against the Bengals, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Collins met with team doctors after practice, who don't believe the injury is serious, though his status for Sunday's game is in jeopardy, according to the source. The Texans' official injury report listed Collins as limited in Wednesday's practice due to the hamstring issue.
Collins also dealt with a hamstring injury in 2024, when he was placed on injured reserve and missed five games in the middle of that season.
Collins, 27, had seven receptions on 10 targets for 75 yards and a touchdown in the Texans' season-opening loss to the Bills, leading the team in all three categories. The six-year veteran has been Houston's leading receiver in each of the last three seasons, topping 1,000 receiving yards in each of those campaigns.
Collins' absence would be a significant loss for Houston against a Bengals defense that forced four turnovers and sacked Buccaneers quarterback Baker Mayfield four times in Week 1. The Texans are already without wide receiver Jayden Higgins, who will miss the season due to a torn ACL.
