Kamara practices fully, Saints optimistic for Sunday

New Orleans Saints

Saints coach Kellen Moore said he "feels good" about Alvin Kamara's chance of playing Sunday against the Ravens after the running back was a full participant in Wednesday's practice.

Kamara sprained his MCL on Aug. 18 in a joint practice with the Cowboys, an injury that was expected to keep him out for a month. He returned to practice last week, and Moore said Kamara could have played in the Saints' Week 1 loss to the Lions. "I think it was just a matter of time on task, getting a full week's work," Moore said. "I thought he did an amazing job to put himself in a position last week to practice really well. And so he's in a great place.

The status of defensive end Cameron Jordan for Sunday is less certain, according to Moore. Jordan has been out with a hamstring injury since Aug. 6 and did not return to practice until Friday. He was a limited participant Wednesday. "We'll see what happens," Moore said.

The Saints rushed for only 91 yards as a team in the 31-30 loss to the Lions. Newcomer Travis Etienne Jr. carried the ball nine times for 46 yards and also caught seven passes for 32 yards. Saints quarterback Tyler Shough said of Kamara, "He's a difference maker at every position, to be honest. His physicality, his speed, his one-cut ability, his presence, just in the huddle, just from all that stuff.

Tight end Juwan Johnson did not practice Wednesday due to an illness. Rookie tight end Oscar Delp, who has been dealing with a hamstring injury, returned to practice for the first time in several weeks.
