The Chargers are signing wide receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling to their practice squad, a source told ESPN's Jeremy Fowler on Tuesday.
Valdes-Scantling, 31, spent his first four seasons with the Green Bay Packers and two with the Kansas City Chiefs. He has also played for the Buffalo Bills, New Orleans Saints, San Francisco 49ers and Pittsburgh Steelers. A fifth-round choice in 2018 out of South Florida, he spent training camp with the Dallas Cowboys but was released when the team cut its roster to 53 players.
The signing comes after the Chargers' loss to the Cardinals on Sunday, in which wide receivers Ladd McConkey (rib), KeAndre Lambert-Smith (hamstring) and Derius Davis (undisclosed) were injured. On Tuesday, the Chargers placed Lambert-Smith on injured reserve, meaning he will miss at least four games.
McConkey had five catches for 82 yards before he was hit by linebacker Mack Wilson Sr. while attempting a leaping grab in the third quarter. He did not return to the game. Davis was injured on a Justin Herbert pass that was intercepted by safety Andrew Wingard after Davis landed awkwardly on his shoulder while contested by two Cardinals defenders, though he returned to the game.
The Chargers also signed wide receiver Gary Jennings to the active roster from the practice squad.
