Chargers coach Jim Harbaugh said Monday that wide receiver Ladd McConkey has a rib injury and is considered day-to-day.
McConkey was a bright spot in Sunday's 26-14 loss to the Cardinals, catching five passes for 82 yards before exiting in the third quarter. He was hurt on a hit from linebacker Mack Wilson Sr. while attempting a leaping grab on an in-breaking route and did not return. Quarterback Justin Herbert said after the game, "Ladd's a really good football player. We're really glad to have him, and he made a ton of plays today, so I'm hoping he feels better."
The Chargers trailed by only two points when McConkey left the game, but the offense did not score on any of the four remaining drives, which were marked by penalties. Herbert was sacked two times for a total of three on the day.
Harbaugh also said safety Elijah Molden, dealing with a hamstring injury, and wide receiver Derius Davis, with an undisclosed issue, are day-to-day. Wide receiver KeAndre Lambert-Smith has a hamstring injury and will miss some time.
With three receivers potentially out, fourth-round rookie Brenen Thompson could see an opportunity after playing just 10 offensive snaps and not being targeted on Sunday. Offensive coordinator Mike McDaniel had pushed general manager Joe Hortiz to draft Thompson, who was the fastest receiver at the NFL scouting combine with a 4.26 40-yard dash and led the SEC in receiving yards (1,054) at Mississippi State last season.
