Jets rookie wide receiver Omar Cooper Jr. and veteran safety Minkah Fitzpatrick both left Sunday's season opener against the Titans in Nashville with injuries.
Cooper, one of three first-round picks by the Jets, suffered an ankle injury in the first quarter and was sidelined after just four offensive plays in his NFL debut. His next-to-last play was a catch-and-run for 30 yards that set up a touchdown on the Jets' opening possession.
Fitzpatrick, one of the Jets' marquee offseason additions, left with a strained left groin after six plays and was listed as doubtful to return. He was replaced by former starter Andre Cisco. The Jets acquired Fitzpatrick from the Dolphins in a March trade and signed him to a three-year, $40 million contract.
The Jets' secondary took another hit in the second quarter when nickelback Jarvis Brownlee Jr., a former Titan, left with a calf injury, though he returned in the second half. Rookie D'Angelo Ponds, the team's other nickel, was inactive, and the Jets moved safety Dane Belton to the slot while Brownlee was out.
