Correa done for season with Astros due to ankle

Carlos Correa will not return to the Astros this season, manager Joe Espada told reporters Tuesday.

Correa had surgery May 11 to repair a torn ankle tendon. He had been expected to miss the entire season at the time of the procedure, but a quicker-than-expected recovery had raised hopes he'd rejoin the AL West-leading Astros.

Espada said Correa has experienced soreness in the ankle during his ramp-up. "The build up the last couple of days really has been tough on his leg," Espada said, adding that Correa's focus will be on returning fully healthy for the start of 2027.

Correa was hitting .279 with three home runs and 16 RBIs this season.
