New Orleans Saints defensive end Cameron Jordan will not play against the Detroit Lions on Sunday due to a hamstring injury. Saints coach Kellen Moore ruled Jordan out on Wednesday.
Jordan, 37, last practiced on Aug. 6 after suffering the injury but was not placed on injured reserve. The absence will mark the third game of his career that he has missed and the second due to injury.
Jordan previously missed a game in Week 14 of the 2021 season due to COVID-19 and another in Week 11 of the 2022 season after fracturing his orbital bone, returning the following week to finish out that season. He has not missed a game in the last three seasons.
Moore said Jordan is progressing well in his recovery. "Cam's going to do everything possible to play ... he's progressing well. He's done a really good job through this recovery process, and we'll just take it week by week," Moore said.
Elsewhere on the Saints' injury report, running back Alvin Kamara returned to practice Wednesday in a limited capacity after spraining his MCL during a joint practice against the Cowboys on Aug. 18, an injury that was expected to sideline him at least a month. Running back Kendre Miller also returned to practice after leaving early last week, while running back Audric Estime did not practice due to a thigh injury.
