The Cleveland Browns placed running back Dylan Sampson on injured reserve with a knee injury, the team announced Tuesday.
Sampson sustained the injury while returning a kickoff in Cleveland's season-opening loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars.
The Browns signed Jaleel McLaughlin from the practice squad to fill the open spot on the 53-man roster.
Sampson will miss at least the next four games and is eligible to return for the Browns' Week 6 home game against the Baltimore Ravens.
Sampson, a 2025 fourth-round pick, opened the season as the backup to starter Quinshon Judkins and one of the Browns' top kick returners. Second-year player Raheim Sanders, the only other running back on the 53-man roster, filled Sampson's role on offense and special teams after he was sidelined.
