The Buccaneers and quarterback Baker Mayfield have agreed to a three-year, $165 million contract extension, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter and NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
Mayfield, 31, is entering his fourth season with the Bucs. General manager Jason Licht had expressed confidence a deal would get done, though no contract had been signed by Mayfield's self-imposed deadline of the end of training camp.
The two sides came to an agreement as Mayfield has provided stability at the quarterback position following the end of the Tom Brady era.
Mayfield experienced a full rejuvenation of his career in Tampa Bay. He was drafted No. 1 overall by the Browns in 2018, spent four years in Cleveland, then spent time with the Panthers before a brief but career-resuscitating stint with the Rams.
That Rams run led to Mayfield earning a one-year, prove-it contract with the Buccaneers. Since then he's had the first two Pro Bowl seasons of his career.
