The Minnesota Wild have traded for forward Blake Coleman and defenseman Olli Maatta from the Calgary Flames. In exchange, the Flames received defenseman Jake Middleton and three draft picks, including a second-rounder in 2029. Calgary will retain 50% of Coleman's $4.9 million salary for the final year of his contract.
Blake Coleman, 34, has 10 seasons of NHL experience and recorded 20 goals and 35 points last season. Olli Maatta, 30, is recognized for his defensive skills and has played 13 years in the NHL. The Wild also re-signed defenseman Zach Bogosian and right winger Nick Foligno to one-year deals, and signed Maxim Shabanov for $1.6 million after he was not retained by the Islanders.
