The Tampa Bay Lightning have signed defenseman John Carlson to a two-year deal with an $8.5 million salary cap hit. Carlson, 36, previously played for the Anaheim Ducks after 17 seasons with the Washington Capitals, where he won the Stanley Cup in 2018.
Carlson's signing addresses the Lightning's need for a right-side defenseman following the departure of Darren Raddysh. Last season, Raddysh recorded 70 points in 73 games before being traded to the Toronto Maple Leafs.
