Georgia Tech CB Jaylen Mbakwe out of hospital

Georgia Tech cornerback Jaylen Mbakwe was released from the hospital Sunday, a day after he was taken off the field on a stretcher during the third quarter of a 45-24 loss to Tennessee.

Mbakwe was injured attempting to make a tackle when his head collided with teammate Jordan Walker's knee. Both players were hurt on the play, with Walker carried off the field by trainers while Mbakwe remained down on the turf for several minutes.

Georgia Tech said in a statement Sunday that Mbakwe was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital for "precautionary observation," adding that he was evaluated overnight and has been released. The statement said, "Jaylen and Georgia Tech appreciate all who have taken the time to express concern and support."

Mbakwe posted on his social media account early Sunday morning that he is "fine and feeling well."

Mbakwe transferred to Georgia Tech from Alabama, where he played in 22 games over two seasons.
