Sparks hiring Sixers executive Andonian as new general manager

The Los Angeles Sparks hired Ariana Andonian as general manager Friday. Andonian was previously GM and vice president of player personnel for the Philadelphia 76ers' G League affiliate, the Delaware Blue Coats. She replaces Raegan Pebley, who was fired July 12.

Andonian, a USC graduate and California native, will oversee all aspects of the Sparks' basketball operations, including roster construction, player personnel, scouting and strategy. She will also decide the future of coach Lynne Roberts, who is finishing her second season in Los Angeles.

The Sparks will miss the playoffs for the sixth straight season. The team is 15-25 at the current break for the FIBA World Cup, which Andonian will attend. Veteran forward Nneka Ogwumike is retiring after this season, and guard Kelsey Plum was traded to Phoenix in August and will be a free agent.

Andonian started her NBA career in 2015 with the Houston Rockets in basketball operations and scouting. She earned an MBA at Duke and worked as a player personnel consultant for the men's basketball program there, then spent four seasons with the Memphis Grizzlies leading high school and international scouting before joining the 76ers in 2024.
