Seahawks wide receiver Jake Bobo suffered what appears to be a serious knee injury during Friday's joint practice against the Titans in Nashville, coach Mike Macdonald told reporters. Bobo was hurt while being taken to the ground near the sideline, and his right knee was examined before he was carted off the field. The Seahawks took a knee and prayed for Bobo once practice ended.
"Our heart goes out to Jake Bobo," Macdonald said. "It seems like it's going to be a serious knee [injury]. We're going to get it imaged, but early returns are [that] it looks like it's a long-term injury. That's unfortunate."
Bobo, 28, was projected to serve as Seattle's No. 5 receiver and factor heavily on special teams. He made the team out of training camp in 2023 as an undrafted rookie and caught three touchdown passes over his first two seasons as a reserve receiver, then had only two receptions in 11 games last season. He played in the Seahawks' Super Bowl LX victory less than two weeks after surgery to repair a hand fracture suffered in the NFC Championship Game.
The Seahawks re-signed Bobo to a two-year, $5.5 million contract in March, matching an offer he'd received from the Jaguars as a restricted free agent. "He's a beast, man," Macdonald said. "Just a great football player, a great Seahawk. Hopefully we reflected that in our investment in him. But we love him, we'll be there beside him as he recovers and we pray it's a speedy recovery."
Quarterback Sam Darnold said seeing Bobo go down "hurts." "He's one of those guys that he works, he talks a lot of stuff and he's kind of like Devon Witherspoon in a way offensively," Darnold said. "He brings the juice every single day and he just does his job. So it sucks to lose Bobo but I know he's going to attack it and be better whenever he comes back."
