Liverpool have signed Barcelona defender Ronald Araújo on a season-long loan, with an option to make the deal permanent for around €55 million next summer. The club will cover Araújo's wages during the loan, and he has taken a pay cut to facilitate the move. Liverpool did not pay a loan fee for his services this season.
Araújo, 27, aims to revitalize his career at Anfield after limited playing time at Barcelona, where he made just 16 starts last season. He joins a Liverpool defense in need of depth, especially with injuries affecting players like Joe Gomez and Giovanni Leoni. Araújo will wear the No. 33 shirt for Liverpool this season.
