The Detroit Lions and running back Jahmyr Gibbs have agreed to a three-year contract extension worth $67.5 million, making him the highest paid running back in NFL history. The deal, which includes $51.5 million guaranteed, was confirmed by agent Todd France to ESPN and NFL Network.
Gibbs, 23, has recorded 49 career touchdowns, the most for any player in NFL history through their first three seasons. He finished last season with 1,839 yards from scrimmage and 18 total touchdowns, and his production is expected to increase following the trade of David Montgomery to the Houston Texans.
