Eagles' Jackson hospitalized after kickoff tackle

Eagles running back Ja'Quinden Jackson was taken off the field by ambulance after being injured on the opening kickoff of Saturday's preseason game against the Patriots.

The team announced that Jackson has strength and movement in all extremities and was taken to a local hospital for further evaluation. His agent, Damien Butler, said a subsequent CT scan came back negative and that Jackson is awake and alert.

Jackson was injured when his head appeared to collide with Lan Larison's leg while he was making a tackle on the kickoff. He stayed on the ground for several minutes before being stretchered into an ambulance as teammates looked on, offering a thumbs up before being driven away.

"Tonight, above all else, we thank God that Ja'Quinden is doing well following an incredibly frightening moment during the game," Butler said in a statement obtained by ESPN. He added that the group is grateful to the Eagles' medical staff and first responders for their swift actions, and that Jackson looks forward to rejoining his teammates once medically cleared.

Jackson, 24, was signed by the Eagles on August 10. The Arkansas product spent last season on the Jaguars practice squad.
