Chargers' Tyler Biadasz carted off with left leg injury

Chargers center Tyler Biadasz was carted off the field with an apparent left leg injury during Tuesday's joint practice with the 49ers. Biadasz went down after 49ers defensive tackle Sebastian Valdez fell into his leg during an 11-on-11 drill.

Biadasz remained on the ground for nearly five minutes while trainers attended to him before he was helped onto a medical cart. Quarterback Justin Herbert and tight end Scott Matlock appeared to wish him well before he was driven off the field with his head down.

With Biadasz out, rookie Jake Slaughter took reps at center. Slaughter, a second-round pick, played center at Florida, but the Chargers had primarily been using him at left guard during training camp.

Biadasz, 28, signed with the Chargers in March after playing for the Washington Commanders last season, where he started 31 games over the past two seasons before being released in February in a cost-cutting move. He was the biggest piece of an interior offensive line overhaul by general manager Joe Hortiz.

The Dallas Cowboys selected Biadasz in the fourth round of the 2020 draft, and he started all 49 games he played for Dallas. He made his lone Pro Bowl following the 2022 season.
