Brighton fan, 73, dies after falling ill post-match

A Brighton fan died after becoming unwell as he was leaving the stadium following Brighton's 4-0 win over Aston Villa, the club confirmed. The 72-year-old fell ill as he was heading to board a supporters' club bus in the coach park.

Club chief executive and deputy chairman Paul Barber said: "What should have been an ordinary and happy journey home ended in heart-breaking circumstances and we are all shocked and saddened by the loss of one of our supporters. We extend our sincere condolences to the gentleman's family and friends."
