Leon Goretzka has joined Aston Villa on a free transfer from Bayern Munich. The 31-year-old midfielder won seven Bundesliga titles, three German Cups and the 2020 Champions League during his spell in Bavaria. Aston Villa have not specified the length of his contract.
Goretzka has made 73 appearances for Germany and is the eighth arrival for Villa this summer. He joins fellow midfield signings Johan Manzambi and João Gomes, as well as Zion Suzuki, Matteo Ruggeri and Alejandro Garnacho.
Villa have lost Morgan Rogers, Ezri Konsa, Youri Tielemans and Lucas Digne during the close season. The club lost 4-0 to Brighton on Sunday and face champions Arsenal at Villa Park on Monday.
