Las Vegas Aces starting forward NaLyssa Smith will miss the rest of the season after sustaining a left leg injury in Sunday's 88-78 victory at Toronto. Smith suffered the non-contact injury going to the basket at the 3:15 mark of the third quarter.
Smith started 38 games and averaged 11.7 points and 6.4 rebounds this season while shooting 63.8% from the field. Smith, 26, was the No. 2 pick in the 2022 draft by Indiana out of Baylor and spent three years with the Fever before being traded to Dallas before the 2025 season, then dealt to Las Vegas on June 30, 2025.
Smith started all 12 playoff games as the Aces won the WNBA title last year. The Aces currently sit in third place at 26-13 and next play Friday at home against Toronto before the FIBA World Cup break. A'ja Wilson, Jackie Young and Chelsea Gray are on the U.S. World Cup team. When WNBA play resumes Sept. 17, the Aces will have four games left.
